This gives a summary of whether you can recycle the item in household collections, you can’t but can recycle the item another way, or you can’t recycle the item at all. Kitchen items are split between Food & Drink Packaging, Kitchenware, and White Goods & Electricals.

Food & Drink Packaging

You can usually recycle in household collections:
– Drink cans
– Food tins (put lid inside the tin to avoid sharp edges)
– Biscuit tins and their lids
– Lids on glass bottles & jars
– Aluminium foil (scrunch into a ball)
– Aluminium foil trays (e.g. from take-aways)
– Aluminium tubes (e.g. tomato puree, remove plastic cap)
– Milk bottles
– Plastic pots (e.g. for yoghurt or soup)
– Food & drink cartons

You can usually recycle (but not in household collections):
– Food waste
– Plastic film packaging

You can’t normally recycle:
– Laminated foil
– Crisp packets
– Sweet wrappers
– Clingfilm
– Plastic film lids for trays and pots (e.g. yoghurt pot lids)
– Food & drink pouches


Kitchenware

You can usually recycle (but not in household collections):
– Saucepans
– Cutlery
